Cqrlog can read frequency and mode and set them but only if Hamlib (rigctld) supports them as Cqrlog is talking only with rigctld
using standard command set same for all radios.
It is rigctld's duty to convert standard commands to form that specific radio understands them and also send commands to radio in the way what radio understands.

Finally it is all up to rigctld (Hamlib). So latest version (from GitHub) is always recommended.
