CW Keying

Brand new to Linux - trying out Linux Mint 17.1 (64 bit) and CQRLOG for first time.  Using several FTDI USB to serial converters, 1 to communicate with TS850 which I have working fine, the other to send CW using DTR and RTS (for PTT).  Have searched through forum and the web in general and found a few references but all of them way over my head in dealing with Linux.  If this method of sending CW is indeed possible with CQRLOG, I would appreciate how to accomplish for the neophyte.
Thanks, Ron

Re: CW Keying

Hi Ron,

you can use cwdaemon. CQRLOG supports it and it should work. The command should be something like:

cwdaemon -d ttyUSB1 where ttyUSB1 is your keying device.

I don't use cw daemon because cw generated from it at higher speed (above 30WPM) sounds very strange. It also depends on system load. I've been using K1EL Winkeyer USB for years. It works very well.

Re: CW Keying

Finally got this working.   Had some package version issues going on.  In the process I found where there is a new author for cwdaemon and unixcw with newer libcw.   The release notes indicate that the higher speed issues are resolved with the new version.  So far my testing indicates that's true.  Thought I would share in case someone else is interested.  I plan to eventually go to a Winkeyer but wanted to give this program a trial first.  Now I just need to understand how to build a startup script to run the command and how to lock the two FTDI usb to serial converters to their respective assignments.  I think I experiencing some flipping from boot-up to boot-up.
Thank you for your help!
