Double key issue, again 2.3.0

HI!

Just noticed that Window/QSO list/Filter/SQL console has again double key syndrome.
Every keypress produces 2 characters to console: hheellpp!!

At least when cqrlog is run with Fedora 28/LXDE

Quickly tested some other inputs, but did not find any other place than SQL console with this bug.
This is not the first time and playing with "input mode selector" and Ibus solved this last time. Now I just have to dig out what was done at that time.

Any other distro having same issue?

Double key issue, again 2.3.0

Now tested with ham computer that has Fedora27/LXDE.

SQL console works normally. So there is a difference between F27 and F28 that causes double strokes with one keypress.
Might exist in some other linux distros, too.

It is the input method chooser in LXDE that makes doubling.
If it is not found from start menu it can be started from console with command
im-chooser
Working selection there is "No input method" and after setting that log out/ log in must be done.
After that no more double characters with one key press in SQL console.

I'm seeing the same thing in Linux Mint 18.3, but I don't have an im-chooser option using cinnamon desktop. Any ideas?

Hi !

There must be something similar. Try to google with words:
linux mint input method chooser
Also if you do not need special characters try to set ibus off if it is in use, it may also effect doubling.

Ha! It was right in front of me under Preferences -> Input Method.

However, still some strange behavior. When I opened this, it was already set to "None," as advised. However, I logged out and logged back in anyway, and now the SQL console windows is behaving normally - no more repeats. I wonder if maybe there was some default value in there that was wrong, and opening the program for the first time set it up correctly by default?

Anyway, I'll take it. Thanks and 73. Hope to get you into my log someday, too!

Where are these settings within 'ínput method' I tried a lot but cannot fix this with Debian 9.5. I still have the Double key issue going on which made cqrlog for me unusable.
Any tips or guidance?

double key issue

Ubuntu 18.04 Mate desktop
double key entries in each box on cqrlog, NOWHERE ELSE. just cqrlog
Google is not my friend, nothing there that I can find about input method, etc. has fixed this on my machine. Ive logged out, chosen different keyboard layouts etc.
Ive uninstalled cqrlog and installed multiple times the last few days and it's unusable until this is fixed.

At wits end,

Hi!
If you do not need any special language support try uninstall ibus.
sudo apt-get remove ibus.

This is quck googling result. Says Mate 14, but I suppose 18 could be similar. Remember that you must log out and back in to make sure that changes actually happened:

Installing IBus
You can install IBus by clicking the link below.

Install IBus
To set IBus as the default input method open Language Support from System -> Preferences -> Language Support and select IBus as the system input method.

You can switch keyboard layouts by using the +Space hot key.

In addition to the above you may need to install extra input methods such as ibus-mozc (Japanese), ibus-pinyin (Chinese) or ibus-hangul (Korean).

Installing fcitx
fcitx is considered to be superior to IBus. You can install fcitx by clicking the link below.

Install fcitx
Now open a terminal as run the following:

fcitx -r
fcitx
You should only need to complete the step above once. A white keyboard icon should appear in the system tray. Right click the keyboard icon and choose configure to add additional input type and keyboard layouts.

To set fcitx as the default input method open Language Support from System -> Preferences -> Language Support and select fcitx as the system input method.

You can switch keyboard layouts by using the +Space hot key.

In addition to the above you may need to install extra input methods such as fcitx-mozc (Japanese), fcitx-libpinyin (Chinese) or fcitx-hangul (Korean).

More MATE for your money
There are some additional MATE specific tools and utilities that are not installed by default in Ubuntu MATE because they are not suitable for everyone

Saku, thank-you so very much. IBus was/is/always has been the problem. I didn't realize what IBus was really for and some of it's quirks. Fcitx is way better.
Again thanks so much with simple explanations and help. Problem is fixed.
