CQRLog on Ubuntu 12.10

I am trying to run CQRLog on Ubuntu 12.10 and am noticinig a few odd behaviours.

First I noticed that the fonts for the labels don't fit in the boxes. I believe this is due to me using larger fonts as a default in Ubuntu. This could probably be fixed by me going back to normal size fonts, however then it would be difficult for me to read on my large monitor.
Second when I try to add the repository as suggested on the website I get the following error:
I am having problems adding the repository on Ubuntu 12.10. I get the following messages when trying to install the latest version: W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/ok2cqr/ppa/ubuntu/dists/quantal/main/source/Sources 404  Not Found W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/ok2cqr/ppa/ubuntu/dists/quantal/main/binary-amd64/Packages 404  Not Found W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/ok2cqr/ppa/ubuntu/dists/quantal/main/binary-i386/Packages 404  Not Found E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
Finally when I enter the contact information and save, it doesn't show up in the top part of the program window. That part of the window is just white instead of showing a grid with the contact call/info.
I am wondering if the problems that I am having are due to me running Ubunto 12.10 instead of 12.04 LTS. I have an LTS disc and all of my data backed up, so I can easily go back to 12.04 LTS to see if that corrects the problems that I am having. But I wanted to run the problems by other people on the forum to see if I should be checking something else first.
Thanks in advance for the help,

Update

After playing around trying to fix the problems I was having, I rolled back from 12.10 to 12.04 LTS. Once I had 12.04 LTS installed I was able to add the repository and the error messages went away. Now I have the latest version installed.
My assumption was correct about the font size. The program does not allow for anything but normal fonts to be used. If I use larger fonts in the system settings, the fonts in the program are not readable. Also the data such as the time and date in the boxes only show a few of the digits. This may be a problem for anyone that is using the large font settings due to older eyes or larger monitors as making the fonts larger causes the program to be unusable.
I am still having a problem that the top of the program screen is not showing logged contacts. It is just showing a white box. However if I go into file and then select show qso list, they show up there. Is there a fix for this problem that anyone is aware of?
Thanks,

Re: Update

Hi Jeff,
there is no deb package for 12.10 in my ppa. I'm working on new version which will have deb files also for 12.10. In the mean time, you can install deb package directly from CQRLOG website.
If you want to see recent QSO also in New QSO window, you have to enable it in Preferences -> New QSO and check "Show recent QSO records for last X days"

Thanks, Petr. I appreciate

Thanks, Petr. I appreciate the information. Any suggestions on how to get around the font issues or does that have more to do with my computer hardware? I am using a fairly large monitor so I have the font set to large. When set to normal the fonts are quite small and difficult to read from a distance. However when set to large the labels get pushed together as well as the data in each of the fields is too large to fit inside of the box.

Thanks again,

To give you a better understanding what I am saying about the font size problem, here is a screen shot of CQRLog

Jeff, preferances, Fonts,

Jeff, preferances, Fonts, uncheck the bax that says "use default settings" this should take care of it, and while you are there change the statistics to 10. HTH Tom K8WDX

Thanks, Tom. That does help

Thanks, Tom. That does help to make everything fit where it's supposed to however that makes the text too small to be easily read again. It probably wouldn't be a problem having a normal size monitor, but sitting back it's a bit too small to read with the higher resolution. That's the reason for me having Ubuntu setup to use large font.

Sounds like there may not be a solution other than for me to just deal with the small fonts. I am surprised that since the boxes aren't using all of the available realestate when the program is maximized. As you can see in the picture there is a ton of available space if the boxes would resize depending on the size of the text inside of it. However I am still very impressed with CQRLog. So the text problem is a monor annoyance. Certainly not one that would cause me to stop using the program. Maybe what I should do is to drop the resolution down a bit. That should make everything larger again.

Thanks again for the help,

True, but on my monitor the

True, but on my monitor the boxes are quite small, so in order to get the text to fit the largest font I can use is 7. If I go any larger the text is too large to fit in the box and I pretty much get what you see in the picture.
