Install problems

Ok after 2 days of trying to figure out how to install I give up. There are WAY too many variables for a newbie to Linux. I've managed to install Ubuntu onto my Chromebook and downloaded the CQRLOG files, but can't seem to get any farther than that. I got this Chromebook just to run CQRLOG. I'm not sure specifically what MySQL file to download etc. Anyone reading this who might be able to call me and walk me through it would be much appreciated.

install

Ok, no takers. Looks like I'm on my own. I got it to install and now I'm working on Ubuntu to recognize the USB from my TS590s and get Hamlib to work. So far no luck.

Still at it...

Hi Tom, Thanks for the call. Much appreciated. I decided to start from scratch and attempted to load Mint. Got the file downloaded and it's in my download folder, but it's an .iso file so appears to be a CD image. I'm not sure what to do with it at this point. SO, I started again and wound up installing Ubuntu and XFCE4. That seemed to go ok. I then tried your "stop at ppa" sudo install and got an error message that it couldn't find the repository, so I went ahead and use the entire line including the update. That went ok and loaded cqrloq, but not when I launch cqrlog I get a blank square in the middle of the xcfe4 desktop and it says it's loading but times out. CQRLOG does not show up in the download folder. I'm stumped again....73,Steve

Right click on ISO file and

Right click on ISO file and open it with your DVD burner and burn to disc, then install the disc, reboot and it will load the OS, then click on install icon. dont know about the rest of the issues as I use Mint 100%.

Iso mint file

Ok Tom, thanks. I'll have to hook up an outboard DVD player to the Chromebook and give that a go. I'll keep you posted. Got a lot of orders stacked up that I have to get out, so have to do this in spurts. 73, Steve, W1SFR
