PSE Stop CQRLOG Window pop-ups in WSJT-X remote

Hello,

I'm using CQRLOG latest with WSJT-X latest in remote mode on my Linux openSUSE Tumbleweed laptop (XFCE DE).

There is a very annoying behavior of CQRLOG (at least for my personal evaluation) which I would like to be possible to eliminate or even disable becoming just as an user preference:

as soon as WSJT-X finalize a QSO and the user click to log it, CQRLOG "New QSO" window pop-ups on the screen hiding the WSJT-X and all other eventual windows present on the desktop!

IMHO this behavior is absolutely undesired and it should be at least managed by user preference (enabled/disabled) and not works this way as default.

So be so kind to add a feature wherein an user could disable the CQRLOG window to pop-up in case of remote application (as WSJT-X in my case) triggers it to pop its windows in some way.

Many thanks and best regards!

Marco, PY1ZRJ

HI!
This has been discussed and tried to solve before.

How ever it seems to be related to Linux desktop and freepascal/Lazarus working with that one because it does not happen with all desktops.
This is what makes it impossible to fix properly. Programmer should have a desktop where it happens to test with. If he does not have it, it is a blind try.

Yes Saku, I understand.

Hope that somebody with same environment like me could check and resolve this.

Just for your information Saku: I've tried the same task on Linux Cinnamon Desktop (completely different by XFCE) and the issue is exactly the same:

When you are using CQRLOG along with WSJT-X remote, as soon as you're logging a QSO from the FT8 window, then CQRLOG window "NEW QSO" rises up without any human understandable logic!

Then the Desktop itself has nothing to do with this, the issue is inside CQRLOG windowing management!

Hi Marco!

Just pop-up into my mind:
Have you tried to uncheck Preferences/New QSO/Refresh data after save QSO ? Does it have any effect to this?
If I remember right you have it checked.

And other question:
Can you record a video and place it to some cloud service to download, please? (My mail does not accept huge attachments).
Video should have all operations in order. Start Cqrlog, start wsjtx, set remote mode, have qso and log it. So that I can see the whole process.
Maybe I am then enable to produce the pop-up that does not happen here now. After that I maybe could get some glue what and how it really happens.

Hey!

I happened to have Mint 20 Cinnamon in my virtual machine setup.
Installed wsjtx and prepared setup. I could only receive FT8 via laptop microphone but that was enough to get something on screen.

Yes! Cinnamon really does that weird pop-up about 3-4secs later when OK is pressed in WSJTX logging screen and Cqrlog with NewQSO, QSO list and CQ monitor is dropped down from NewQSO's top right "-" button. Delay may be caused by slow virtual machine here.

But the reason is just Preferences/New QSO/Refresh data after save QSO checked.
After it is unchecked whole Cqrlog window group stays invisible.

Side effect is that when you look at QSO list there are no new qsos until you press speed button "refresh" (4th from right).

Funny, but this does not happen with Fedora Linux

Hi Saku,

You are really good as debugger and code developer, we have to recognize your abilities!
After disabling the QSO "refresh data" option from CQRLOG settings, the window pop-up has stopped!
I've also found the option "Always overwrite info from previous QSO with call-book data" which I suppose will resolve the issue I explained to you if I reply to a second station in FT8 before finishing the QSO with the previous one!

So far so good!

Best regards!
