Mint 16 Debian LMDE or OpenSuse ??

Anyone using Mint Dabian 16 LMDE and CQRLOG? I am looking for sometihng that will update and keep currently without having to "start over". Does LMDE fit the bill? I was also looking at OpenSuse.

It is in openSUSE ham radio ppa and is promptly kept up to date. Most of the ham radio apps are ahead of the ubuntu versions.

Currently I am using Mint 16 Cinnamon and all is well. Petr's PPA was added by me and everything is kept up to date as expected. I suppose LMDE will do the same.

I am using OpenSuse 13.1. I dowload the tar file, extract it, and place the extracted folder in my ~/bin folder. I then rename the folder to cqrlog and the desktop icon/launcher doesn't have to be edited.  CQRLog is also in the OpenSuse Ham repository. It is at version 1.7.4-1.1.
